OutReach

Job Readiness & Job Training

Our Job Readiness & Job Training program prepares young individuals, aged 18-28 (and select 16-17 year-olds with approval), for the workforce. Annually, 75 participants are divided into three cohorts, each undergoing a mandatory 3-week job readiness course. Post-training, participants have access to job training opportunities ranging from 1 day to 8 weeks. Throughout their 12-week journey, participants receive continuous case management support to ensure their success.

Basketball & Mentoring

The Basketball & Mentoring program serves 25 youth from October to June 30th, integrating athletic training with structured mentoring sessions. Held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, this program emphasizes personal development, teamwork, and academic achievement. Participants are assessed through pre and post-tests, ensuring they meet the program's standards. Together, these programs underscore our commitment to empowering youth, providing them with the tools and support necessary to navigate their personal and professional lives successfully.

What is Outreach:

Violence prevention outreach, also known as community violence intervention (CVI) or street outreach, is a public health approach that uses outreach workers to identify and engage people at risk of becoming involved in violence. These programs aim to reduce violence by targeting those closest to the source, such as youth and adults between the ages of 13 to 28. Outreach workers can provide a variety of services, including:

  • Case management

  • Mentorship

  • Safe spaces

  • Connections to services and resources

  • De-escalating conflict

  • Mediation

  • Building supportive relationships
